Location –
Bristol International Airport is the main commercial airport
serving the city of Bristol and the surrounding area in England. The airport
is located 8 miles south of Bristol City Centre. If coming from the North,
Bristol City Football ground is a well-known landmark. From the South, the
approach from East Brent is a lot faster. The airport is suitably signposted
along the major roads in this area.
Know your Airport - During the years of
the World War II, Bristol Airport was the only civil airport
still in operation in the United Kingdom. This meant that all flights usually
bound for London were concluded in Bristol. Today, the passenger numbers
have broken the 3 million mark because of the world-class facilities available
and the arrival of low-cost carriers. Development by Easyjet and Ryanair
has seen the passenger numbers touch almost 4 million. Till January 2006,
scheduled domestic flights occupied the second spot after the international
flights.
